Our primary datacenter is a carrier neutral facility located at 1025 Grand Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. The 19000+ sq ft. building is a perfect location to house our mission critical systems. Multiple fiber optic entry points mean we don't have to worry about our connection being disturbed. Ethernet cross-connects from any of the 10 IP providers in the building can easily be brought into our secured area. We currently have connections to Level 3 and Global Crossing at this datacenter.
This datacenter is kept a perfect 72 degrees using 6 redundant forty ton HVAC coolers, pushing air via downdraft cooling through the raised floor which is a neccesity for optimal datacenter cooling. These units also monitor and control humidity.
Security takes center stage as it should in any first class facility. There are 3 levels of proxy card security, one at each of the front entrances, which also require a pin number. Once inside the mantrap, you must sign in and then use your proxy card to access the datacenter. Inside the datacenter you are monitored by CCTV surveillance at all times.
Power is never an issue since we have multiple PDU's connected to the UPS system which is also backed up with a diesel generator. Of course the cutover is almost instant using an automatic transfer switch, should utility power ever fail.
